Uber Eats Launches in Finland, Begins Operations in Helsinki

US-based food delivery service Uber Eats has officially launched its operations in Finland, marking a new chapter in the country’s growing digital delivery market. The service began its journey on Wednesday, initially rolling out in Helsinki.

The company has confirmed that it will soon expand to nearby cities including Espoo and Tampere later this month, signaling an aggressive entry strategy into the Finnish market.

While Uber has been operating its app-based ride-hailing services in Finland for several years, the introduction of Uber Eats adds a new dimension to its local presence. The company had already started food delivery services in recent days, gradually preparing for its official launch.

Matthew Price, Northern Europe Director at Uber Eats, described the move as part of a larger strategic push across the continent.

“This is a big moment for us in Europe,” Price said in a statement to Yle.

The expansion into Finland reflects the company’s broader ambition to strengthen its footprint in Europe, tapping into increasing demand for convenient, app-based food delivery services.

With competition already present in the Finnish market, industry observers will be watching closely to see how Uber Eats positions itself and scales its operations in the coming months.
